Tonic Alchemist & Sous Chef in Kauai

Kilauea, HI

This job will start in Kauai but as we are opening up locations on the mainland as well this could turn into a salaried position where you travel and help us open up new locations.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Head Chef in overseeing the daily operations of the kitchen

  • Coordinate and supervise kitchen staff, ensuring efficient workflow and adherence to quality standards

  • Collaborate with the culinary team to develop and execute menu items

  • Monitor food production and ensure timely delivery of meals

  • Maintain inventory control and order supplies as needed

  • Ensure compliance with food safety and sanitation regulations

  • Assist in menu planning, costing, and pricing

  • Train and mentor kitchen staff on proper cooking techniques and safety procedures

  • Manage shift schedules and allocate resources effectively

Experience:

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a culinary role, preferably as a Sous Chef or similar position

  • Strong knowledge of food service, catering, and kitchen management principles

  • Proven experience in menu planning, food production, and inventory control

  • Familiarity with dietary department operations and special dietary requirements

  • Excellent leadership and communication skills\

  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
